Mới đây, các nhà nghiên cứu của Úc đã tìm ra Vitamin D có thể làm giảm triệu chứng của bệnh này. Giáo sư Bruce Taylor, thuộc Viện Menzies ở Hobart - Úc, đã nghiên cứu 145 bệnh nhân ở miền nam bang Tasmania và theo dõi tính nhạy cảm của họ đối với bệnh đa xơ cứng tế bào thần kinh. Kết quả cho thấy Vitamin D có ảnh hưởng tới những nguy cơ dẫn tới bệnh MS.
