Đại sứ quán Hoa Kỳ cho biết: Theo Chương trình Đối tác Thái Bình Dương 2012, tàu bệnh viện USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) thuộc Tư lệnh Hải vận Quân sự (Military Sealift Command) của Hải quân Hoa Kỳ sẽ cập cảng Cửa Lò để cung cấp hỗ trợ dân sự và nhân đạo tại tỉnh Nghệ An từ ngày 10-24/7/2012.
