Hồi sinh loài voi ma mútCác nhà nghiên cứu thuộc ĐH Manitoba (Canada) đang tiến hành những thí nghiệm từ mẫu ADN nhằm hồi sinh loài voi ma mút đã tuyệt chủng.
Trong thí nghiệm của mình, mẫu ADN từ một phần bị đóng băng của loài voi khổng lồ được sử dụng để tái tạo mẫu máu của chúng. Bằng việc sử dụng kỹ thuật mô phỏng kiểu gen, họ có thể tái tạo các phần cơ thể cũng như cấu trúc protein của loài voi đã tuyệt chủng. Vật liệu thí nghiệm là những mẫu ADN được bảo quản trong xương của một loài voi ma mút sống ở khu vực Siberi cách đây 43.000 năm trước.Từ những mẫu ADN, các nhà khoa học hy vọng hồi sinh loài voi ma mút.
