ới đây nhóm các nhà khoa học thuộc Trung tâm nghiên cứu cấp cao (CINVESTAV) đã phát hiện một loại chất có trong cây dứa dại (Agave), nguyên liệu chính dùng làm rượu Tequila tại quốc gia này, có khả năng hỗ trợ điều trị bệnh béo phì, tiểu đường, loãng xương và một số chứng bệnh thông thường khác.Phát biểu với báo giới, nữ tiến sỹ Mercedes Guadalupe López Pérez, truởng nhóm nghiên cứu, cho biết loại chất nói trên được gọi là các phân tử đường không thể tiêu hóa.
