Một nghiên cứu mới đây của các nhà khoa học thuộc trường đại học Queensland (Australia) cho thấy rằng 1/3 số động vật có vú, được cho là đã tuyệt chủng trong tự nhiên, đã được tái phát hiện trong những năm.
